Easy Living Room Updates you can do in a Weekend

It’s always a good idea to ensure that your home is prepared to comfortably host and entertain guests, or at least just in your living room.

1.       Clear out clutter

A cluttered living room becomes an even more uncomfortable and unwelcoming space. If you’ve been putting off doing a clear out for a while, now is the time to do it and maximise your space.

If guests feel cluttered they won’t be able to feel at ease and enjoy themselves so this is rule number one to updating your living room.

2.       Make sure your carpets are clean

Getting your carpets professionally cleaned on a regular basis is necessary all year round.

Make sure to move all of your furniture including your armchairs, coffee tables and sofas out of the way when the professionals are at work to avoid damage.

3.       Update lighting fixtures

Installing new lighting fixtures can be done in a matter of hours and choosing the right pieces and placing them correctly can have an immense impact on the look and feel of your living space.

Need some inspiration? Consider swapping ceiling lights for wall lighting or introducing chandelier lighting to make a positive first impression on your guests when they enter your living room. Think about installing picture lights to those areas of your living room that you want to draw attention to.

4.       Accessorise your sofa

Have you recently purchased one of our modular sofas and you’re looking for a way to compliment its sleek design? If so, think about accessorising it with a beautiful throw, some silk cushions or some side tables.

5.       Replace pictures and paintings

Do you hang paintings, pictures or photographs in your living room? If so, perhaps it’s time to change things up by swapping out your current artwork for some new pieces from your collection.

Doing so will create new focal points in your living room and make it a little more interesting when your guests call over.

6.       Add a touch of paint

If your living room walls need a little lift, why not consider adding an accent wall? Perfect for breaking up a large room and adding an interesting design element to any space, accent walls will continue to be one of the top interior design trends of 2018.

Put aside just one weekend, get some helping hands and follow this quick guide. Before you know it, with these quick clean up tips your living room will be a much more interesting place to entertain your guests in.
